Deadly Reads: Diary of an AFL Legend

Diary of an AFL Legend by Shamini Flint

I have no idea how Marcus Atkinson, the main character in this book, survived until he was nine never learning any of the rules of AFL! His complete lack of any knowledge about the game makes for a really funny book when he is guilted into playing with his older cousin for a season.

It kind of reminds me of myself when I first started to learn about footy when Carl would force me to watch it on telly!

Cool cartoon illustrations with speech bubbles and minimal text, this book is perfect for low literacy older readers and middle readers alike.

Moral of the story- do what makes you happy even if it isn’t the same as everyone else.

Well worth a read!
