It’s a huge step to decide to ‘school away’ at a boarding school. You might feel worried about leaving your family and friends, what you’ll miss out on, what your host family or boarding house will be like, or how you will fit in at your new school. You know what though? You’ll never know unless you give it a chance.
You control your future. You can take the chances. Nobody else can.
No matter what your background or family is like. The only thing you can control is you.
Taking the first step to school away is huge and you should be proud of yourself for deciding to give it a shot.
There are a lot of people out there to help you once you are there- teachers, host families or boarding school ‘parents’, guidance counsellor, Aboriginal advisor, new friends, old friends back home, other boarders, maybe your pastor/priest, you can even get hooked up with a pychologist or school counsellor if you just need someone else to yarn with.
And you know what? You will see new things, try new things and go back stronger to your community.
You are deadly for thinking big.
So first, steps first.
