Black Cockatoo and the Readings Children’s Book of the Year shortlist

March 9, 2019

We are so overwhelmed and excited to be shortlisted for the Readings Children’s Book Award 2019.

Readings Children's Book Prize

Readings have been an amazing in helping share our book to the wider market. Soon after our launch in 2018 we made two of their blog lists:

  1. The Best Middle Fiction Books of 2018 https://www.readings.com.au/news/the-best-middle-fiction-books-of-2018
  2. Our 2018 Gift Guide- What to buy for hard to buy for chidlren https://www.readings.com.au/news/our-2018-christmas-gift-guide-what-to-buy-for-hard-to-buy-for-children

We never expected to be shortlisted for their Prize though! So you can imagine our excitement at finding out! It means so much that our novella has spoken to the judges, our readers and Readings customers. We are so grateful to everyone who has championed and supported our book!

We are super excited to be alongside some other amazing authors- including some books we were lucky enough to have already read and some to add to our ever growing ‘to-read list’.

After being shortlisted, we were some of the best sellers of the week on the Readings website! https://www.readings.com.au/news/our-childrens-and-ya-top-10-bestsellers-of-the-week-78

Win or lose, we have been honoured to be recognised and shortlisted for this deadly prize. Now we are just waiting until late April to find out if we have won!
